I'm a dedicated professional that enjoys a challenge, particularly when delivering technical work. My experience includes 10+ years of Mechanical and Project Engineering across the Oil & Gas, Power and Energy industries including technical verification, shutdown/TAR delivery and support, project development and execution, offshore operations, mechanical maintenance and design.
On-going mechanical support for offshore asset from daily operations to TAR planning and long-term operability. My responsibilities included adherence to Spirit Energy standards, deferrals, technical deviations and management of change.
Providing technical support and assurance as part of the platform leadership team on the Central Processing Complex, offshore platform in the Morecambe field. My responsibilities include engineering support & technical assurance for day-to-day platform operations; planning and safe delivery of shutdown/TAR; supporting the onshore engineering functions with medium/long-term plant improvements and modifications; delivery of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for plant events and failures; ensuring compliance with performance standards for management of change (MoC), engineering deferrals and risk assessment; providing operations and technical support for development & delivery of projects, modifications and repairs.
As Senior Mechanical Engineer within Spirit Energy’s Technical Function I provided mechanical discipline expertise to Operations, Maintenance, Shutdown/TAR and Project teams across all UK/NL assets. Responsible for ensuring the design, inspection, repair and alteration of static equipment (valves, process piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks etc) adhered to both Spirit Energy standards alongside relevant Industry Codes, Standards and Specifications. I led and supported failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) / root-cause analysis (RCA) for both general troubleshooting and equipment failure. Recommending technical solutions for threats to process safety and mechanical equipment, also developing these solutions for the asset when required. Key achievements in the role include: • Identified and verified that reports for monitoring of significant wall-loss due to pitting in live PD:5500 pressure vessel onshore were not representative of the worst-affected areas. Enhanced on-going reporting to be representative of actual loss, managed specialist finite element analysis (FEA) modelling of vessel to verify suitability of complex external & internal wall-loss pattern and developed repair strategy following technical assessment of engineering options. • Liaised with the asset’s mechanical team to identify and prioritise registered issues with major platform and plant isolation valves. Worked directly with specialist vendors to engineer multiple solutions for each key valve and presented these back to asset management, ensuring developed and quoted engineered solutions were available as and when required. • Developed Spirit Energy guidelines for both small-bore tubing assemblies (SBTA) and flexible hoses. Updated existing site standards to bring in line with current Energy Institute guidelines for rollout across all Spirit Energy assets.
Provided mechanical & project engineering support to an 850MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station through consecutive Pressure System Safety Regulation (PSSR) and C2 (Rotating Plant) outages. Led Balance of Plant works for 60 day outage in 2017; delivered multiple inspection & project work scopes with related budget control, design verification and adherence to Management of Change (MoC) process. • Demonstrated ability to lead & deliver complex scopes of work with PSSR inspection for HRSGs & associated systems • Proven success dealing with adversity and delivering emergent works including major weld repairs. • Responsible for workflow & project functionality through SAP. • Successful application of Management of Change (MoC) for plant modifications. • Supported Fault Finding and Root Cause Analysis processes at the station.
Lived and worked offshore in a back-to-back rotation pattern to deliver engineering & operations support to Centrica’s Morecambe Hub manned & unmanned platforms. • Job Responsible Engineer for bundle change and repair of centrifugal gas compressor. • Worked directly with OEM to negotiate external project support, costs & timescale. • Managed re-certification of damaged 20Te lifting beam, including full load test. • Demonstrated ability to identify and troubleshoot technical issues. • Spearheaded implementation of technical Root Cause Analysis (RCA) offshore. • Delivered a new RCA procedure for the hub; later used as a basis for a company wide procedure. • Prepared records, documentation and engineering verification for MoC. • Led & delivered reliability study of rotating screw fuel gas compressor. • Delivered critical evaluation of third party permit management systems and SSOW.
Provided specialist mechanical engineering support to both Development & Execute upstream projects teams, progressing and delivering key aspects of upstream projects across various stages of the project life cycle. • Supported both new developments and brownfield projects including regeneration works and consolidation of major onshore assets. • Launched gas pipeline technology verification study for non-welded connection concept. • Accomplished the end-to-end process review of E&P Hub onshore & offshore assets. • Led a multidisciplinary team of external contractors & delivered results to a firm deadline. • Led close project close out following first gas, delivering technical resolution for outstanding queries to facilitate project completion.
Delivered deign projects to BREAAM standards; supported contract adherence, system design, installation & commissioning. Managed HVAC simulation & design, integration of renewable technologies, BREEAM rating assessment and all outsourced simulation work. Major projects include John Lewis York, the first retail building in the UK to receive BREAAM ‘Outstanding’ rating.
