• Working with the executive team to ensure our business objectives are met through strategic planning and execution of the plan. This is a business which has experienced very difficult challenges over the last 18 months and I was employed to provide the existing management team with commercial insights and implementation of plans to turn the business around through; cost savings, margin improvements and new sources of revenue.
• Part of a three person senior management team responsible for setting the strategic direction of a listed company with a market capitalisation of circa R500m. This includes but is not limited to: ➢ Operational risk controls implementation and monitoring ➢ Establishment of an internal audit department ➢ Human resource management ➢ Information technology architecture and governance ➢ A three year Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment plan ➢ Procurement and working capital management improvements ➢ Meet with analysts on a regular basis to provide them with insight into the Rolfes Group strategy and business prospects. Achievements in the role • Successfully restructured the Pigments division which included the financial analysis of why the business was not performing, retrenching circa 70 staff, dealing with the Unions and working with the MD to ensure we had a quick return to profitability i.e. within 3 months. • Devised and implemented a 3-year BBBEE plan to move the Group from a level 8 contributor to a level 3 contributor. Reason for Leaving • Strategic differences with the CEO.
