Most finance people are good at the numbers. Fewer are good at the room. I'm Wei Xuan, Finance + Psychology at NUS, and I genuinely think that combination is underrated in FP&A. My finance background covers what you'd expect: financial modelling, FP&A at Adecco (Power BI, Excel automation, management reporting), and audit at Foo Kon Tan. I know how to build a model and how to stress-test assumptions. But honestly, my psychology major is what changed how I think about the work. It pushed me to ask different questions. Why do stakeholders anchor on the wrong metrics? What makes a forecast actually get used versus ignored? How do you present uncertainty without losing credibility? These aren't soft questions. In planning and analysis, they're often the difference between insight and noise. Outside of finance, I've led as a Battalion Quartermaster Sergeant, spent a semester abroad at Queen's University in Canada, and helped run the finance side of RunNUS. Each of those threw me into situations where I had to read people quickly, communicate across very different audiences, and figure things out without a playbook. I think that's what draws me to FP&A. It's not just about getting the numbers right. It's about making sure the right people understand them, trust them, and actually do something with them. • Conducted internal auditing through the vouching and checking of various financial statements such as cash flow, balance sheets and bank statements. • Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness in the analysis of financial records and preparing reports.
• Led and managed unit ground logistics in support of unit training and operations for a 100+ men air defense unit. • Coordinated with logistic bases and external vendors to ensure smooth and concurrent operations in the unit. • Trained and supervised a team of supply assistants in logistics procedures.
