I perform civil engineering tasks related to roadway design, including developing horizontal and vertical alignments, designing ADA-compliant curb ramps, and calculating super elevation rates and earthwork quantities using Civil 3D and OpenRoads. I analyze existing site conditions to identify geometric or drainage issues and recommend appropriate design solutions, such as improved cross slopes, culvert sizing, and stormwater flow direction. I prepare engineering documentation including plan and profile sheets, pavement replacement layouts, typical sections, and quantities estimates for use in construction plan sets. I contribute to the preparation and QA/QC review of construction drawings, striping and signing plans, and maintenance of traffic (MOT) strategies to ensure compliance with applicable design standards and safety regulations. I also assist in reviewing vertical clearance requirements, evaluating bridge approaches, and assessing lighting needs for roadway interchanges. All engineering tasks are performed under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer, with a focus on applying sound engineering principles to ensure constructability and public safety. Approximately 95% of my duties are engineering-related, with the remaining 5% involving non-engineering tasks such as internal coordination and occasional business development communication.

As an engineer, my job responsibilities cover a broad range of tasks that require a high level of technical skill and attention to detail. One of my primary duties involves designing ADA compliant curb ramps, which requires a thorough understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act and local regulations. I use specialized software such as Civil 3D to model the curb ramps and ensure they meet all necessary standards. In addition to curb ramp design, I also work on stormwater design. This involves designing drainage systems that can effectively manage and mitigate the impacts of stormwater runoff. I use a range of engineering techniques to design these systems, including hydrological modeling and analysis. Another aspect of my work involves developing Signing and Stripping Plans, Electrical Plans, Lighting Plans, and Traffic Signal Plans. These plans are critical components of transportation infrastructure projects, and I work closely with other members of the project team to ensure that they are accurate and complete. Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Plans are also an essential part of my job. These plans are designed to minimize disruptions to traffic flow during construction, and I work to develop effective strategies for managing traffic during construction periods. Finally, I am responsible for developing plan and profile, traffic detour, drainage utility, intersection construction detail, and curb ramp construction detail plans. These plans provide the detailed information necessary for construction crews to build the infrastructure projects I design. In addition to these tasks, I also perform quantity take off and cost estimate analyses. These analyses help ensure that projects stay within budget constraints, and I work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that financial resources are being used effectively.

Working On “Tripod”: Sustainable Travel incentives with prediction, optimization, and personalization, Sponsored by ARPA-E; Token-based applications for suggesting users alternative travel modes considering their preferences to optimize the energy consumption, instead they would be given tokens. The more saving energy is, the more tokens would be. Tokens can then be redeemed in related vendors. Worked with a large team of PI’s, postdocs and graduate research assistants from MIT and UMass Conducted sensitivity analysis of “DynaMIT”; A simulation-based real-time travel incentive optimization system in the Boston area networks Assisted in implementing multi-modal functionalities for DynaMIT As a Research assistant, I am assisting in implementing the multi-modal functionalities for the DynaMIT: A simulation-based real-time travel incentive optimization system in the Boston area networks. I am working in the System Optimization (SO) team and get the outputs of the other teams and produce the compatible inputs for DynaMIT and run several tests with various scenarios and programming to analyze the results and extract the traffic indexes and outputs, write the reports and documentation. I also apply TransCAD and ArcGIS for visualization of the network and do some analyses. I prepare presentations of my tasks and present in the weekly meetings. We also have a quarterly review meeting for which I prepare the required results, reports and presentations.
