Prof. Shigeo Horie is a surgeon-scientist of Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine. He graduated the University of Tokyo in 1985. He did his research and clinical fellowship at the UT Southwestern medical center at Dallas. He was a member of the faculty of the University of Tokyo, National Cancer Center Hospital, and Kyorin University. He focused on oncological surgery, genetic diseases, and translational research. In 2003, he became the chairman of the Department of Urology of Teikyo University. In 2012, He was appointed as the chairman of the Department of Urology of Juntendo University. He specialized in uro-oncology, robotic surgery, Men’s Health, and Anti-Aging Medicine. He is the leading robotic surgeon in Tokyo. Juntendo is now recognized as a center of precision urology. He is the past-president of Asian Pacific Prostate Society. He Initiated the first Men's Health Clinic in Japan, and the leading experts of testoserone. He is currently the president of Japanese Society of Anti-Aging Medicine, and Japanese Society of Men's Health. He published 200 peer-reviewed papers.
Prof Horie has studied renal genetic disease, especially autosomal-dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). He has contributed to the development of the treatment of ADPKD for more than 25 years. He served the chairperson of the government-supported comittee of clinical guidelines of ADPKD.
