Data is most interesting before anyone has cleaned it up. Not the polished dashboard version (though I’ll admit it’s satisfying to see a dashboard that “just works” @Todd Howard). The weird logs, broken joins, ugly schemas, jobs that fail at 2 a.m., columns nobody can explain, and systems that somehow still hold the company together. That’s the fun part (as long as Prod is okay). A lot of the work for me, is tracing things back to first principles. Where did this table come from? Why is this job slow? Why does this metric drift? Why are we paying for this query? Why does every “temporary” fix survive for two years? Working with data is one of the few places where paranoia and curiosity complement each other and are both useful traits. > Quoting my Calculus 1 professor: "Some problems give up only when you stare at them long enough." (I ended up spending two years staring at those epsilon-delta 𝜖-𝛿 proofs before I finally understood them the night before my Calc 3 final exam.) That probably explains a lot about how I work. I’m stubborn with hard problems. I trust patience. And I genuinely enjoy sitting with something difficult until it starts to reveal its logic. (Of course, I’ve also learned that when PMs and clients are chasing, some problems need to be respectfully set aside and dropped into the backlog for the next poor soul to discover.)
- Built AI and gameplay components (E.g. a frog that jumps/leaps/hops at the player) - Debugged and optimized gameplay code to reduce bugs and improve runtime performance
- Partnered with the platform lead to define and track key metrics for a new e-learning platform, focusing on multi-channel traffic and user behavior data from Salesforce. - Gathered user requirements and transformed them into actional insights to increase organic sign-ups of the platform. - Provided data analytics reports and Power BI dashboards for cross-functional teams. - Identified potential risks and implemented mitigation strategies and adjustments to address misalignment in the database.
- Monitored real-time user engagement within a 1000-member customer community, analyzing and drawing insights from data to support re-engagement effort. - Analyzed NPS feedback in Salesforce to identify churn patterns and designed targeted email campaigns, recapturing lapsed members. - Developed custom metrics to benchmark GitHub repository performance (stars, forks, contributors) relative to market competitors. - Synthesized findings into actionable data stories for product marketing, driving informed decisions around new feature priorities and resource allocation. - Created bi-weekly HTML newsletters, reaching over 1000 readers to drive active Slack community participation.
- Applied market segmentation strategies to identify and target key customer personas, supplying data to aid in the development of a digital market segmentation tool. - Conducted competitive analysis as a corollary to my market segmentation and data collection process. - Performed large-scale data reconciliation (Consolidated and cleansed large datasets from over 500 hospitals), ensuring the accuracy and validity of critical data, thereby streamlining projects and informing data-driven decision-making.
