About

I’m a plant pathology graduate from Lincoln University with a strong interest in practical, grower-focused solutions to plant health challenges. My recent Master’s research focused on pathogen interactions in kūmara systems, building on earlier postgraduate study and hands-on experience working directly with growers in Northland. Before returning to study, I spent five years working across horticultural operations, moving from field work into packhouse supervision and management. This included responsibility for compliance, audit readiness, health and safety, and coordinating logistics and supply chains. That experience shaped how I approach science — not just as theory, but as something that needs to work in real-world growing systems. I’m particularly interested in plant disease management, biological control, and sustainable production systems, especially where they can directly support growers and regional industries. I enjoy working at the interface between science and practice — whether that’s problem-solving in the field, improving processes, or helping communicate technical information in a way that’s useful and accessible. Based in Kaitaia, I’m keen to contribute to the Northland region through roles that combine technical challenge with real impact. I value strong relationships, clear communication, and being part of a team that’s working toward something meaningful. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me in the water surfing, out fishing, or spending time outdoors — which is a big part of why I care about the sustainability and resilience of our primary industries.
