ALTR provides data security as a service. ALTR’s cloud-native service extends Zero Trust to the SQL Layer, stopping credentialed access threats and SQL injection attacks in their tracks. As the Technical Writer at ALTR, I lead the overall content structure and mediums to address product documentation needed for a diverse audience of customers, partners, and prospects. I wrote and kept up-to-date all product documentation and created and maintained external-facing release notes on all new software releases. In this position, I was an integral part of the engineering and product processes from feature conception through release, working closely with technical teams, marketing and management. I conducted regular proactive research and gathered feedback from users of the documentation on its effectiveness with a focus on continuous improvement.
Configuration Data Analyst at Thales Avionics, Inc. (formerly JetBlue Airways, LiveTV) Melbourne, FL (2017-2020). As a Reliability Engineering Configuration Data Analyst, I partnered with Fleet, Reliability and Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) Engineers as well as other departments to proactively analyze data and develop, build, enhance and deliver actionable reports and databases to assist the organization in making informed decisions regarding fleet health and LRU reliability. I applied configuration management practices to establish and maintain a baseline of the company's In Flight Entertainment (IFE) products—both hardware and software. I used various database tools to enter, retrieve, and process up-to-date configuration information regarding the company's products and their functionality including MTBF, Mean Time Between Unscheduled equipment Removals (MTBURs), Bad from Stock items, duplicate records, and erroneous data entries.
Senior Technical Writer (at Thales Avionics, Inc. (formerly JetBlue Airways, LiveTV) Melbourne, FL 2013 - 2017). As a part of the Product Support Engineering group, I researched, wrote, and maintained a variety of documents such as FAA-compliant Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) for Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), acceptance test plans, specifications, troubleshooting guides, and interface control documents in support of IFEC (In Flight Entertainment and Connectivity) products. I used MAXit text analysis software to provide compliance with Simplified Technical English industry best practice requirements. My documentation efforts supported products installed and maintained on Boeing and Airbus aircraft. I worked closely with engineers and technicians to ensure that all documentation met corporate, FAA, and ATA requirements, and was accurate, up-to-date, and easy to use. This position required expert-level knowledge and use of MS Office applications. In this position, I also provided configuration management support for CMMs by assigning document numbers, maintaining accurate records of document status, archiving documents in multiple software platforms, and maintaining revision control over such documents. I ensured that all documents conformed to company and industry specifications.
At Carbolosic, a manufacturer of biomaterials, biofuels and fine chemicals, I was hired as Manager of Technical Documentation but was soon promoted to Director Technical Services. My responsibilities included technical documentation, corporate communications, administrative support and some human resources functions. In this position, I ensured that each task was aligned to best support the corporation, and its goals and objectives. I coordinated with senior management and other staff members to establish clear lines of communication, define priorities, and streamline workflow. I produced high quality, accurate documentation, provided timely, concise and efficient corporate communications and skilled, professional administrative support to all aspects of Carbolosic’s operations.
As a member of the Information Technology (IT) Department, Office of the CIO, I researched and created corporate-level policies and department-level standards to support IT activities throughout the organization. This process encompassed activities such as interviewing subject matter experts, obtaining and reviewing historical documentation, routing the documents for socialization and review, and using the company Document Approval System for final routing and sign-off. This position included maintaining a SharePoint site that allowed selected viewers to access PDF versions of completed documentation. As the Policy and Standards Developer, I interfaced with all levels of staff from company presidents and the CIO, to engineers, technical experts and support personnel.
In this position I was in charge of all phases of documentation creation—from requirements definition, to initial outline and drafting, research, revision, and review cycle processing and approval in support of PetroAlgae’s biotechnology projects. I was in charge of documentation style and standards, project prioritization, and documentation quality assurance. I interfaced with subject matter experts to research topics in support of standard operating procedures, hardware and software user’s manuals, maintenance manuals, and presentations. Development and maintenance of the corporate document numbering system and an extensive document status spreadsheet were also my responsibilities. I created graphics such as process flow diagrams, functional block diagrams, and marketing artwork for use in company documentation. As Technical Writing Manager, I was also responsible for coordinating proposal preparation efforts, including analysis of the RFPs, writing, review and timely submittal.
