Holger is a company principle and a senior civil engineer with experience as project director, project manager and team leader, specializes in all kinds of environmental studies, planning, design, tendering, construction supervision, testing, commissioning and overall project management, and also advises on plant operations in all areas of solid waste management (SWM). He completed over 100 projects, gaining more than 30 years of professional experience in the civil engineering, SWM and environmental sectors in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.He is sworn SWM expert witness for the German court. Some of his main achievements are the planning and design of Europe’s biggest landfill for MSW and THW in Ihlenberg, Germany and the extensive participation in the setup and operations of the OVVD facility in Rosenow, Germany, one of the most modern SWM facilities in the world. He finished major SWM projects for the Asian Development Bank, which secured successfully more than US$150 million loan packages for the projects. He is one of only very few consultants specialists globally who has actually directed the on-the-ground development (from conception, permitting, construction and long-term operation) of a highly successful regional SWM disposal facility in the developing world. This facility, located in the Philippines, is operational with all international-standard engineering systems, including a landfill gas recovery system that is being permitted under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
