I grew the Munich Engineering Center from ~12 engineers in 2008 to now >1800 engineers. The Munich Engineering teams work on Google Chrome (Chrome's JavaScript Engine V8, Open Web Platform Security, Chrome Privacy, Chrome Password Manager, Chrome Infrastructure), Google Privacy & User Trust, Corporate Engineering, Developer Infrastructure, Language Tools, AI Tools for Google Developers, System Reliability Engineering, Android Auto, Sovereign Cloud, and many more. And we can't wait to move into our new office in g.co/arnulfpost by the end of 2026!
Site Lead of Google's growing Engineering Center in Munich, Germany. Grew the site from <15 to engineers in 2008 to now >500 engineers. The Munich Engineering teams work on Google Chrome (Chrome's JavaScript Engine V8, Open Web Platform Security, Chrome Privacy, Chrome Password Manager, Chrome Supervised User, Chrome Infrastructure), Google Privacy & User Trust, Corporate Engineering, Developer Infrastructure, Language Tools, System Reliability Engineering. Also responsibly for Google Chrome and Chrome OS engineering teams in Munich and Paris.
Lead a team of about 60 international engineers and researchers in Daimler’s Silicon Valley lab responsible for research and advanced engineering in the area of Infotainment and Telematics which covers topics such as connected audio/video technology, vehicle integration of consumer electronics devices, connected navigation, location-based services (LBS), communication technology and protocols for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Functions as the technical and management liaison between the Silicon Valley outpost and the Daimler headquarters in Germany to guarantee successful integration into corporate processes and strategy and successful transfer of technical results. Fosters cooperation and partnering with Silicon Valley companies and universities on research and development projects.
Established and led the research group to achieve a reputation of cutting edge excellence within DaimlerChrysler and the international technical and business community. Worked with the team to create new concepts and ideas for applications of Telematics services and develops and builds prototypes of the required infrastructure in HW and SW.
Contributed to the initiation and implementation of telematics research project by applying scientific research principles and concepts to potential inventions and products of DaimlerChrysler. Developed and implemented research prototypes and concept demonstrators of telematics applications and services for future in-car entertainment applications, location-based services, concierge services, roadside assistance services, safety services, etc. Established contacts and relationships with external academic and industrial research organizations.
ICAST was acquired by FVC.COM in August 1998.
Design and implementation of rich media communications solutions, enabling interactive voice, video and data collaboration over IP-based networks (ISDN, DSL, Ethernet and ATM networks). Network protocol design and implementation for streaming real-time data over the Internet and protocols for the control of such data streams over the Internet. Product management and development of the ICAST-Recorder, a commercial version of the MBone VCR on Demand Service (MVoD).
