I’m privileged to serve as MUFG EMEA’s regional CEO, having taken up the post in April 2024. I have worked in banking for over 30 years having joined Bank of Tokyo, a major predecessor bank of MUFG, in 1993. During the course of my career I have worked in Japan as well as the USA and other EMEA locations. I have worked in roles covering strategic planning, credit, corporate governance and regulatory related matters. My latest stint in the EMEA region commenced in 2017 during which I held various senior positions, including: Chief Operating Officer; General Manager for European Planning; Vice Chairman of MUFG Bank Europe’s Supervisory Board; and Deputy Regional Executive before being appointed as Regional CEO. I studied at Keio University in Tokyo, where I received a Bachelor’s of Economics degree. I also hold a Master’s degree in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University, Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy. Outside of work, you will often find me spending time with my wife and son, jogging around Hampstead Heath, browsing local antique shops, or cooking.
