Preliminary studies are being undertaken for a fixed road link with a length of approx. 10 km between Als and Funen in Denmark as well as for a storm surge protection project for Copenhagen, Tårnby, Dragør and Hvidovre municipalities with a total coast stretch of approx 45 km. Environmental impact assessments and reporting based on technical description of an immersed tube tunnel partly with cut-and-cover tunnel stretches for an approx. 10 km road tunnel with dual lanes in either directions from Nordhavn to Kastrup in Copenhagen connecting Helsingørmotorvejen in north to Øresundsmotorvejen in south.
Working as Head Consultant on the Nordhavnstunnel-project - a 1,4 km long 2 x 2 lane road tunnel crossing the harbour entrance at Svanemøllehavnen in the northern part of Copenhagen to a development area for housing and offices. Act of Construction taken by the Danish Parliament on 19 December 2019 giving the administrative approval for the implementation of the tunnel project. Initially consultancy services were procured. Responsible for the procurement and implementation of geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations as basis for the procurement of a Design & Build contract including M&E. Responsible for the development of technical documents for the procurement of Design & Build contract and giving input to all non-technical documents. Restricted EU-tender with negotiations but allowing for award based on first bid, which turned out to be the case. Contract was signed in September 2022 starting a planned 5 years construction period. Responsible for preparatory works including design, procurement and construction of a substitution harbour situated approx. 500m away for 600 pleasure boats to be moved from tunnel site in advance of tunnel construction.
From January 2015 - August 2016, shared position of Interim Technical Director at Femern A/S, including responsibility for negotiations with the contractors to reduce the indicative prices of December 2014, subsequently to negotiate the conditional contracts and signing thereof. Managing the Technical Department's activities including support to the German plan approval application and enabling works for the production site at Rødbyhavn. From August 2016 - December 2019, Technical Director, Femern A/S, including responsibility for settling of two complaints against the award of the conditional tunnel contracts (contracts price approx. 4 billion Euro (2015)), prolongation of the 3 tunnel and portals contracts with FLC (contractor) and the dredging and reclamation contract with FBC (contractor) with one year, organisational preparation of Femern A/S for the construction phase and finally responsible for the signing og the variation agreement with FBC for the Danish work harbour etc. bringing the Femern Link Project into the construction phase. The organisational link between the CEO and the Technical Division in all political, organisational, technical and economic matters.
Contract Director Portal, Ramps and Landworks 2011-2014 at Femern A/S, when the tunnel was chosen as the preferred solution (Eurocode) and the bridge solution became the alternative. Reporting to the Technical Director, responsible for all activities within the contracting area, including finance, time and quality. From 2013-2016 also in charge of advanced activities executed at Rødbyhavn.
Project Director Bridge 2008-2011 at Femern A/S. Approx. 2 years with dual role at Femern A/S and at Citytunnelen. Reporting into the Technical Director at Femern A/S, responsible for all activities, including time, finance and quality in relation to preparation of bridge solutions (Eurocode) in competition with tunnel alternatives. Participated in Sund & Bælt working group ahead of the political decision on a new bridge at Federikssund (Crown Princess Mary's Bridge). Via S&B Partner, assisted management at BDK ahead of the political decision concerning a new Storstrømsbro.
Technical Director in the client organisation for Citytunnelen in Malmø, Sweden from 2001-2010 (construction budget approx. SEK 9 billion (2005)). Responsible for time, budget and technical quality for all 19 contracts that were executed largely as Design & Build contracts, some as Build contracts and one using a partnering model: right from the start of conceptual design, tendering/contracting to implementation and delivery. Headed up a technical department with approx. 40 employees and over 100 consultants. Citytunnelen opened on time and 10 % under budget.
Employed at Øresundsbro Konsortiet from 1994-2000 as Design Manager in the client organisation for the construction of the bridge section of the Øresund Bridge (construction budget approx. DKK 6.5 billion (1996)). Right-hand man to the Contract Director Bridge and responsible for the Client's technical communication with the contractor, including responsibility for all consultant activity under the client in terms of architecture and technical design (Eurocode). Responsible for the preparation of tender documents, tender evaluation, contract negotiation and contract signing, the client's point-of-contact in relation to technical communication with the contractor and co-signer in respect of all correspondence on technical aspects with the contractor including claims-handling. In the final phase, responsible Parallel Works Coordinator where the contractors and installation contractors' access to the bridge was optimised to achieve an earlier opening. The bridge opened six months ahead of schedule and on budget.
