Berlin, Berlin, Germany
Critically acclaimed photographer Henning von Berg is dedicated to “Character Portraits” and “Nude Studies”. More than 570 international publications. His specialty is compositions with people in unique buildings/landscapes at natural light conditions. He prefers to work with female/male amateurs; his oldest model so far is a 108 year-old lady. His favorite photography subjects are aristocrats and prostitutes, disabled people and athletes, common folks and celebrities. After 13 years of working as a corporate engineer and architect, in 1997 at age 35, he changed his career and turned his hobby of photography into his new profession. One of his very first images was selected for the reference book “EXPOSED — A Celebration of the Male Nude from 90 of the World’s Greatest Photographers”. Von Berg quickly gained attention by producing unusual group shoots. In 1999, he organized the world’s first and only male nude photo shoot within a parliament building: six men stripped in Germany’s historical Reichstag. In 2005, the Australian police chased him and his group of five nude women in Downtown Sydney. The fun snapshots of those public art happenings were published all over the globe. Henning von Berg is the last male descendent of a family that traces back 507 years. Despite, or because of his traditional background, the 6’5” tall human rights activist prefers to question conservative conventions and likes to intentionally break the rules to create new perspectives. Meanwhile, the self-taught photographer can look back on 46 exhibitions in galleries/museums on four continents and on more than 540 publications, i.e. 62 books (55 anthologies, 7 monographs). HvB continues to divide his time between Berlin and London (summers), Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles (winters).
