About

I am a chemical/process engineer currently working as a Shift Engineer in Manufacturing at BASF Heerenveen, supporting chemical production through shift-based operations, process safety, troubleshooting, operator development, and practical production execution. My experience sits at the interface between operations, process engineering, maintenance, manufacturing support, and process safety. I enjoy work where technical judgement has to be applied directly to real plant behaviour: understanding deviations, identifying bottlenecks, improving operating methods, supporting safe equipment handover, and converting production priorities into executable shift work. Before joining BASF, I worked at JIGPC in Saudi Arabia on the world’s largest Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle complex. My role developed from unit-level process engineering support on the Soot Ash Recovery Unit into broader gasification circuit support across gasification, acid gas removal, hydrogen recovery, sulphur recovery, and soot ash recovery. This included production planning, process monitoring, senior management reporting, troubleshooting, MOC/RCA support, and work on a site-wide water balance constraint that contributed to relieving a significant production bottleneck. I also have experience in process safety engineering, HAZOP/revalidation studies, P&ID review, commissioning support, plant design, lab/testwork support, and technical documentation. I am particularly interested in the practical side of chemical engineering: how equipment, operators, procedures, controls, and process constraints interact in the real plant environment. Outside formal engineering roles, I have a long-standing leadership and coaching background through archery, scouting, and tutoring. That has shaped the way I work: direct communication, ownership, discipline, hands-on problem solving, and a strong focus on developing people as well as systems.
