Project Topic- Chemical synthesis of Graphene and Study of its Compressive behaviour (Under ‘Summer Research Fellowship Programme-2014’, jointly sponsored by IASc, INSA and NASI) (Supervisor: Prof. Abha Misra, Dept. of Instrumentation and Applied Physics, IISc Bangalore) - Synthesized Graphene by modified Hummers method and characterised it by XRD, SEM, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy - Enhanced the compressive strength (20%) and toughness (35%) of PDMS polymer by application of Graphene (10 wt.%) as a filler material
Project Title- Effect of Titanium addition on microstructural and mechanical properties of Al-9Si alloy (Supervisor: Mr. Shubhra Bajpai, Scientist, Surface Engineering Dept., CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar) - Employed stir casting route to prepare Titanium modified Aluminium-Silicon (9 wt.%) alloy - Characterised the alloy using particle size analyser, density measurement, OES and FESEM - Conducted Rockwell Hardness Test and reported an 18.15% increase in hardness on adding 1.5 wt.% Ti
Industrial Training at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant - Visited the blast furnace, steel melt shop, coke ovens, coal chemical plant, sinter plant, and R&D labs - Worked on a project entitled “Study of large capacity blast furnace”
