My background is in insurance. There I wrote policy wordings to work for both the insurer and the client (mostly the client). I learnt how to spot peoples fears and the risks so that I could help reassure them. I do this by explaining in terms that mean something to the client, jargon free. Just as Pension Act 2008 came into force I could see a need for more explanations of complicated things done simply so I qualified in Workplace Pensions and began to teach accountants what it all meant. This was before payroll systems systemised the workplace pensions. I was the first agent to sign up with Collegia a pension company with people at their heart not just month. I now consult for them and provide some onboarding services. Partly due to myknowledge of how things work and the ability to explain the practicalities of things well. From there I have broadened my services to include payroll, including variable weekly hours and CIS. Now we are creating a financial and wellbeing hub for all employers and employees to give even more support and to explain even more complicated things simply.
