Counselling was my passion. I was an enthusiastic ERP & SCM Advisor and Business Transformation Manager - recognised improvement potentials did not let me rest until they were exhausted. Now - after CFS caused by covid in the age of 66 - I´m privately embarking on new adventures and many new insights... However, I will remain loyal to my favourite discipline - TOC - because it is pure logic and illustrates the mistakes of the past so blatantly. Effectivity kills efficiency - you should always have in mind. Focus is key – the only one! High utilisation of all process participants is the biggest cause of productivity losses - confront your financial controller and your CEO with this! Increase speed and throughput by reducing the load reflecting the maximum output of the bottleneck - as easy as that. It works fine - following TOC´s process of on-going improvement POOGI steps. You can do ist manually or software supported - it´s on you! => Traditional Project Management can only fail due to wrong approaches - you should never forget. Ensure synchronization between your tasks/people/resources - prevent multitasking - handle “Students Syndrom” (or engineering Optimism) and “Parkinson´s Law” by implementing Relay Runner Principle and reducing number of milestones - cut buffer by half and place it at the end - monitor the Buffer Consumption Rate to realise priorities and use the Fever Chart. TOC Critical Chain Project or multi–Project Management – double your output! => Double the productivity of your job shop / serial production It is simpe: Recognise the bottelneck of each process - subordinate everything else to this bottelneck - increase the efficiency of the bottelneck - only release orders that are processed at the bottelneck unhindered / without waiting times - accept a lack of workload at non-bottelnecks, use the time for house keeping, training, improvement measures. That's it - the shop is up and running... Are you interested in the 8 Rules of Flow & the 10 rule for Productivity Optimization? It´s worth to think about it...
