To briefly introduce myself, I am a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Scientist with a particular focus on Haematology and Blood Transfusion. I have obtained HCPC registration and possess eight years of experience which has allowed me to develop a comprehensive skill set in this specialized area. My expertise includes conducting laboratory tests, analyzing blood samples, performing transfusions, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results. Throughout my career, I have consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to patient care and safety. I am well-versed in following standard operating procedures, adhering to quality control measures, and maintaining accurate records. I am adept at operating and maintaining various laboratory equipment and instruments, and I possess a deep understanding of the principles and techniques used in haematological testing and blood transfusion processes. In addition to my technical skills, I am a team-oriented professional with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. I thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a keen eye for detail. I am confident in my ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff, to ensure seamless workflow and optimal patient outcomes.
In my position as Medical laboratory technologist I am a full time employee in IBN SINA hospital and working 48 hours per week, working in Hematology, Blood bank and coagulation department, Our laboratory unit is handling 350-400 samples daily, where I am performing CBC, manual differential count & platelets count, cell morphology, G6PD screening test, PT, aPTT, Fibrinogen, FDP/D-Dimer, Thrombin Time, PT/aPTT mixing study, LAC, Thrombophilia profile, Factors assay, Bleeding time, Transfusion & compatibility testing, ABO/Rh Blood grouping, Antibody screening, Coomb’s test. Also I am a team member of: • Bone marrow team- Assisting Hematologist in Bone marrow biopsy procedure in operation theater. Preparing all things for smooth biopsy procedure like: bone marrow aspiration needles, formalin containers, 70% alcohol, Betadine. After the procedure discarding all contaminated waste accordingly: sharp waste in biohazardous sharp waste container, other biohazard waste in yellow biohazard waste bins. staining bone marrow slides, giving hematologist to smear study• Laboratory Safety Team- Making work place safe for everyone with applying safety practices and protocols for decontamination of working area, equipment, taking care of all bio hazardous solid and liquid waste segregation, disposal, shredding techniques.Being a safety officer and Medical laboratory technician we face 400+ infectious samples daily to be processed some time we face incidents such as Blood spillage, centrifuge spillage, blood or body fluid exposures as well. • Quality control- As a Quality control officer I am responsible for receiving and processing of external QC (NEQAS UK, BIORAD QCNET EQAS, RCPAQAP) samples, entering and submitting reports online to their respective QC platform. Attending Hematology QC team meetings and discussion sessions. Keeping record for all external QC we process on given time periods, checking our performance globally on the QC platforms with their provided reports.
Performed test CBC, ESR, ABO-Rh Blood grouping, Manual differential count, platelets count and cell morphology. Makes blood smear, stain with Leishman stain, supravital stain (reticulocyte count stain) Do manual differential count, platelet count, reticulocyte count, NRBC count with microscope on stained blood smear. Perform Complete Routine Bio chemistry tests such as Glucose, Lipids, Liver profile, Renal profile, Cancer Markers, Electrolytes, TSH, T3, T4, LH, FSH, Prolactin, Vitamin D & B12, Beta-HCG, Urine & Stool routine testing & microscopic examination. HIV, HBsAg, Anti-HCV, Urine Pregnancy test, Semen analysis, RPR test for syphilis, Typhoid testing on Kit as well as on slides and Tubes for titration. Worked rotationally in Sample receiving & dispatching area. Received sample cross check all patient details with Test Requisition Form, registered in LIS, Separate after centrifugation, label with LIS barcodes distributed to the laboratory processing department. Also worked as Phlebotomy on rotation, blood extraction according to the ideal Order of Draw. Performed daily, weekly and monthly maintenance, Daily QC and Calibration, attended and successfully passed NABL audit. Ensure a safe working environment per relevant legislation and all safety protocols. This includes the ongoing maintenance of quality control standards, adherence to infection control measures, correct disposal of bio-hazardous waste, and the preparation process for internal and external audits. Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory records such as decontamination records, maintenance records, consumables, and reagent use records to ensure the most effective utilization of resources, optimization of stock levels. Ensure instrument maintenance is carried out correctly, properly documented. Analyzed more than 1000 samples on average per day. Run quality control for each test as stipulated by the SOP and ensure patient results are only released if QC is acceptable for the day.
