Hartmut Vennen is Founder and Managing Director of vennen.advisors - a small, independent and privately-held advisory firm focusing on strategic communications in crisis and special situations. Since April 2022, he also works as a Senior Advisor to the Strategic Communications business of FTI Consulting in Germany. For more than 17 years, Hartmut has been part of the leadership teams at FTI Consulting and Brunswick Group in Germany. He has advised companies and organizations on all aspects of communications in crisis and special situations, helping them protect and enhance their reputation and achieve their business ambitions. One particular focus of his work is on all aspects of strategic stakeholder communications in high level crisis situations, legal disputes (litigation, arbitration), product related issues (product liability, product recall), internal investigations and compliance issues, as well as anti-trust, data security and cybercrime, money laundering or ESG related issues. Hartmut also advises on communications and positioning programs designed to build and enhance Corporate Reputation, driving profitable growth and company success. Hartmut also worked on communication programs to support large scale transformation and change programs, including performance and efficiency improvements, restructurings (carve-outs, site closures, lay-offs), compliance and integrity improvements or post merger integration projects. He regularly advises on the organizational design of global communications functions to enhance their efficiency and impact. Before becoming a communications advisor, Hartmut worked in senior international communication functions at Merck KGaA, Clariant and Hoechst. He is a recognized sector specialist in Healthcare, Life Sciences and Chemicals. Hartmut holds a Ph.D. (Chemistry) from RWTH Aachen University of Technology and is a certified Prosci® Change Management Practitioner.
