About

I am a Harvard PhD educated financial technology entrepreneur and new media arts dealer, with a multidisciplinary career spanning capital markets electronic trading, digital innovation, and arts preservation. My doctorate focused on the Symbolist movement in Modern Chinese poetry, with a postdoctoral fellowship at UC Berkeley, and I currently promote historically significant New York art from the 1980's. Earlier in my career, I served as Chief Systems Programmer in the Lucasfilm MIS department, where I developed pioneering screenwriting software and supported postproduction systems for films including Cocoon, Enemy Mine, Mishima, and the Ewok and Droid cartoon series. I later enrolled in a joint MBA/MA program in International Management at Wharton business school and joined the Lauder Institute’s China program in 1985, combining my East Asian expertise with the nascent realm of financial technology as an early "tech bro". In the 1990s, I architected the global derivatives trading systems buildout for Sanwa Bank, building trading applications and supporting server backends for a decade, often including travel to their Europe and Asia offices. In the year 2000 I departed to co-found the VerticalCrossings dot com, the first Internet-based auction platform for Structured Product. After the bubble collapsed, I spent the next two decades supporting front office trading at Société Générale and other financial institutions including Royal Bank of Canada, Nomura and Bank of America. In 2020 I retired from Wall Street to launch Artabolic Arts Management, which promotes historic and contemporary LGBTQ art, literature, film and opera. As the director of Artabolic.com, I’m currently focused on selling original 1980's East Village Neo-expressionist art work from the Richard Hofmann Estate collection, producing a Belgian Symbolist opera, and translating the censored verse of one of France's most esteemed 15th century poets. Please visit Artabolic.com or contact me directly for a private art viewing at my Brooklyn Red Hook studio.

In 2020 I started up an Arts Management company Artabolic.com as I was invited to translate and write a new ending for a contemporary Belgian Symbolist Opera based upon the folktale of Snow White, and to create the libretto for a sequel. My company also co-produced a documentary on the life and times of my late partner the artist Richard Hofmann, a seminal figure in the East Village art scene of the 80's. The documentary is now available online for film festival or classroom showings at the link below. I was extremely proud that four paintings from the Hofmann collection were showcased in the 2019 Stonewall 50 year commemorative exhibition in Chicago "About Face". Most recently I produced a solo gallery show entitled "Love and Kisses from the East Village, 1986" back where it all started. Many paintings are available for individual purchase and dealer inquiries are welcome! We are currently running a Deep Winter sale on all original artworks. And finally, the brazen, busty creature below inhabited a 16mm film canister for nearly forty years, in which the artist performed the drag solo “Brenda”. The home movie has just been digitized by the dedicated team at VisualAIDS , and is now a MUST SEE on Youtube! https://lnkd.in/dnfNF9Qv . In the movie, Richard Hofmann takes on the role of Brenda the Damned. The buxom giant primps, plumps and noshes her way through a dramatic reenactment of her legendary Mama Cass choking scene. With such a breathtaking beauty as Brenda, how can you not have your mind blown?! Please check out the Artabolic.com site and join the sale if you can!
