As an engineer I've been working in different kinds of jobs in different kinds of organizations during my career. I got the chance to start in the R&D telecom department of Siemens Atea in the beginning of my career. After a couple of years I decided to move on to the customer services department leading a team of Engineers in broadband access technologies, IP and fiber optics. In the beginning of the 21st century the telecom industry evolved fast and Siemens merged with Nokia to become Nokia Siemens Networks. I also evolved towards a new function, developing and maintaining customer relations as a care program manager. After 17 years in telecom I wanted to explore a different world of engineering so I grabbed the opportunity to start to work for Infrabel, as a project engineer in the railways signaling department. A highly populated country like Belgium has a lot of mobility challenges in the broadest way possible. For this reason I moved on to work for the Flemish government dealing with road and traffic safety as a region manager for the Antwerp traffic region. As Covey said, you have to keep the saw sharp at all times !
De regiomanagers spelen binnen AWV een centrale rol. Zij hebben als taak om samen met de verschillende partners op zoek te gaan naar de beste mobiliteitsoplossingen en prioriteiten voor hun regio. Ze zijn binnen hun regio verantwoordelijk voor een goede coördinatie en opvolging van alle investerings- en onderhoudswerken. Ze zijn dus het eerste aanspreekpunt voor de externe partners van AWV voor investeringsprojecten.
Area of responsibility : Mechelen => Study and design of railroad signalling of Vilvoorde station and surrounding railroad area => Mechelen By-pass project - signalling works => Migrating signalling computer room to Alphacloud data center => ETCS L2 regional SPOC for area NE Smaller railroad signalling projects in the Northeast area : => roll-out the new railroad crossings bells with new electronic type => Migration/concentration of Traffic Control Vilvoorde => roll-out of ATW-Tx, new GSM-R enabled protection of field teams => participate in cathodic protection workgroup

Project management for the installation of Carrier ethernet project at TELE2. Interfacing with TELE2, Cegelec subcontracter, NSN R&D, Sales, Services department
