Berlin, Berlin, Germany
I am an accomplished strategist, analyst and political adviser, specialising in climate change and sustainable development. I have held formal and informal leadership roles at many levels, from grassroots to government, primarily in an international context. I have served the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in different capacities since its 5th assessment cycle, and take pride in fostering scientific excellence based on principles of mutual respect and equitable engagement, while promoting diversity. I am quick to think on my feet but also excel at conceptual thinking and proactive long-term planning. I have a rare ability to see the big picture while keeping meticulous track of the details. I am passionate about facilitation, change management and innovative processes, and I occasionally work as a freelancer. I firmly belief that global environmental challenges are intertwined with questions of equity and justice. The transformational change needed to address the climate, biodiversity and pollution crises will have to tackle both.
Research, teaching and exchange on climate science, scenarios, policy and multilateral environmental governance at Tsinghua's Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy. Working with Da Zhang and Xiaoye Zhang (CMA), and learning about China, its people and its perspectives
I am part of the ENB's writer pool, and have covered a wide range of multilateral processes and international conferences over the years, for example the UNCCD, IPBES, the CBD, the GEF, or the Intergovernmental Forum on Minerals and Mining. It's always a priviledge to work with this amazing team of international professionals.
I support the WGI leadership on strategic issues, and liaise across working groups and TFI on interdisciplenary topics. I am also the point person for engagement with relevant international processes and institutions, such as the UNFCC, IPBES or scientific and stakeholder networks
During my tenure at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), I focused on international climate policy and multilateral environmental governance within the research department Global Issues and the new Research Cluster Climate Policy and Politics. As a natural scientist/engineer working at the science-policy interface, I profited immensely from the collaboration with experts in international relations and political science across many world regions.
