About

I am Full Professor in Leading Inclusion at TIAS School for Business & Society, Academic Director of the Leadership & Management Programme at TIAS, author of the book Destructive Dynamics, and co-founder of the Including Behavior Institute. I earned my PhD cum laude on Diversity in Teams, wrote more than a dozen scientific papers on diversity & inclusion, and co-authored a management book on destructive dynamics in organizations. As an international speaker, I am known for personally challenging and engaging my audience, following the principles of experiential learning.

      My PhD research focused on how the composition of teams affects (the group dynamics leading up to) group performance. I applied a multidisciplinary perspective to understanding the consequences of team diversity, using theories from organizational psychology, sociology, and social psychology. On February 8th, 2013, I defended my dissertation (cum laude).

    Serve the City Foundation stimulates students to participate in volunteer work. In cooperation with the municipality of Tilburg, ContourDeTwern (the organization that coordinates over 1,000 volunteer organizations in Tilburg) we organize large-scale events where students can become acquanted with volunteer work. I started the Foundation, gathered approximately 90,000 Euro over the years, chaired the Board, initiated a number of activities and projects, and supervised two part-time employees.

    In the two years that I've worked at Vlerick I've been part of most of the core-activities that business schools engage in: - Teaching: Master's and MBA classes courses in social skills, ethical reasoning (a workshop that I created myself), and cross-cultural management - Executive education: coordinating the renowned Vlerick Middle Management Programme and the People Management Programme - International partnership: organising and coordinating the Master Programme in European Human Resource Management - Supervising students: Supervising and advising Master's and MBA students who did projects at - among others - Barco, Dexia, Ecover and NATO. - Research: I was involved in both fundamental research to the aging workforce (published in Journal of Managerial Psychology, 2009) and contract research to empowering leadership in cooperation with a well-known Belgian magazine.
