In the last 25 years I have been involved in (international) health care. My experiences have been based on capacity building and training in emergency medicine, international and medical management and global mental health care. Apart from optimising health care for patients under challenging and sometimes compromising conditions, I like to work with (future) colleagues to optimize their capacity to perform medically. I know from experience how demanding our medical career can be. This also involves training, coaching and treating Medical Doctors if necessary. Apart from being a psychiatrist myself, my goal is to inspire other (mental) health professionals to adhere to a healthy and fullfilling lives themselves, in order to be able to do the same for our patients. Wat een plezier heb ik gehad aan het schrijven en uitbrengen van dit boek. De reacties zijn hartverwarmend en minstens zo enthousiast als mijn eigen reactie toen ik hoorde can de uitgever dat de eerste druk van een boek niet eerder zo snel was uitverkocht!
