Hans de Wit is Professor Emeritus of the Practice and Distinguished Former Director (2015-2020) of the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) at Boston College. Before he was director of the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation (CHEI) at the Universita Cattolica Sacro Cuore, Milan, Italy, and Professor of Internationalisation of Higher Education at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. He is Co-Editor of Policy Reviews in Higher Education and of International Higher Education, and the Founding Editor of the ‘Journal of Studies in International Education’. He has a regular blog at University World News. He is a Senior Fellow of the International Association of Universities, and teaches in and is member of the advisory board of the DBA Higher Education Leadership and Management, Luiss Business School, Rome, as well as a co-residence director of the EdD program in Higher Education at Boston College. In 2005-2006 He was a New Century Scholar of the Fulbright Program Higher Education in the 21st Century, and in 1995 and 2006 a visiting scholar in the USA and in 2002 in Australia. He has been among others Vice-President for International Affairs at the Universiteit van Amsterdam, in the period 1986-2005. He has a bachelor, master and PhD from the University of Amsterdam. He is founding member and past president of the European Association for International Education (EAIE). He received awards from the University of Amsterdam (2006), AIEA (2006 and 2013), AMPEI (2014), CIEE (2004 and 2006), NAFSA (2002) and EAIE (1999 and 2008), as well as others. Specialties: Professor and Consultant in International Education Research and Management, regional expertise in Europe, Northern and Latin America and the Asia Pacific region, quality reviews, institutional strategies, project and program evaluation, author of books, studies and articles, etc.
As Professor and Director of CIHEI I am responsible for teaching International Higher Education at the master and doctoral and lead research and training projects in international higher education. The Center also publishes the newsletter International Higher Education
