Guided by the principal ‘the quality of everything we do depends on the quality of the thinking we do first’ my approach to executive and career coaching, mentoring, consulting and facilitation intentionally creates the conditions to generate independent thinking. The Thinking Environment® underpins and informs my approach in executive/career coaching and in creating, designing and tailoring leadership and team development initiatives, facilitated dialogue/mediation processes and mentoring programmes. I am a qualified and practicing Time to Think Coach, Facilitator and Teacher. I am fascinated; and passionate about the possibilities my clients can create when they are encouraged, and enabled, within a Thinking Environment®. Prior to setting Up Hannah Carney & Associates, where I have enjoyed 20 years of executive coaching and consulting, I practiced for as a lawyer, admitted in Ireland and NSW Australia. I was a Partner in McCann FitzGerald Dublin: Dispute Resolution - before becoming the Firm’s first Director of Professional Development focused on leadership, talent and team development. Current Specialities: executive coaching, leadership development, facilitation, skills training - with a particular interest in communication/presentations, mentoring, designing facilitated dialogue and mediation processes, presenting, MC’ing. Special interest in developing new approaches to trust based philanthropy.

      I spent 6 years establishing, developing and managing the “people” area in McCann FitzGerald. As the firm’s first Director of Professional Development, I had overall responsibility for the implementation and development of all areas of strategic human resource management, for professional legal staff and the partnership. My role included the design and development of a range of professional, management and leadership development initiatives for all levels of fee earners - depending on business needs. Areas of responsibility and focus included coaching and career development, performance management, organisational development - through facilitated business group development and planning initiatives (internal and external priorities), recruitment and retention.

      I was promoted to Partnership in the Dispute Resolution Group in McCann FitzGerald. Prior to my promotion I spent 3 years working as a solicitor in the group alongside the most talented and competant litigation and dispute resolution lawyers I have ever had the pleasure to work with.
