About

Hamza currently leads the Global Partnerships Unit at HelpAge Canada working closely with counter-parts at HelpAge Int'l HQ, RO and country offices in over 93 countries to support emergencies, international development and advocacy with Global Affairs Canada, Civil Society and multi-lateral organizations. Hamza started his international development career in 2017 serving in the field in Bangladesh, Ukraine and Sudan. During his first assignment, he witnessed the unfolding of the Rohingya Refugee Crisis, joining the WHO Health Emergency Team where he contributed to the first health section of the Joint Humanitarian Response Plan (JRP). Hamza thrives in emergency operations skilled in partnerships and communications, most recently serving on a WHO mission for the Covid-19 Response in Sudan. His mission included strengthening partnerships with the Ministry of Health and UNICEF to deploy 850,000 doses of vaccines through the COVAX programme. He learned to speak Arabic and Bangla while living in duty station and is an advocate for strong partnerships for Sustainable Development.
