I work diligently as an individual as well as in a group. I am very passionate, enthusiastic and goal driven. I am a hard worker and I am always eager to learn new information and put myself up for a challenge. In my final year, my research project involved identifying the potential bioremediation capability of ligninolytic fungi towards xenobiotic compounds such as petrol and diesel. I produced a thesis and review paper towards the fulfilment of this module. I’ve acquired laboratory skills such as: Isolating and characterising microbes (gram staining, endospore staining, acid fast staining, centrifuge) • Preparation of solutions • Calibration and use of lab instruments (autoclave, microscope, UV-Vis spectrometer) • Work using aseptic laboratory techniques • Plating of microbes in petri dish (pour plate, spread plate) • DNA extraction and purification • Analysis of DNA using electrophoresis • Logical thinking and problem solving • Good documentation of results and record keeping. I have completed my honours in Environmental Management. I did my research on the levels of eutrophication in and around lakes in Gauteng. I am currently enrolled to do my Masters.
