I am a scientist specialized in clinical and environmental molecular biology. My expertise includes project design and management, research, lab management, data analysis and interpretation, and scientific writing. I love problem-solving and highly value continuous improvement and development. Specific fields of interest include genetics, GI microbiology, biotechnology, molecular ecology and molecular pathology.
Leading the Clinical Operations department at Nimble Science. I directly interface with (inter)national customers and partners to design programs that generate high quality multi-omics data sets, explore and test novel use cases and ensure product success in clinical study use. I am providing leadership and direction for the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical trials and projects, and work closely with regulatory affairs to ensure operational regulatory requirements are tracked, compiled, reported on and submitted. My role as Lab Operations Manager consists of establishing and maintaining Nimble's sample processing and testing facility. More specifically, I am responsible for training and supervising lab personnel, designing, reviewing, revising, verifying and validating standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance to lab- and biosafety protocols, data analysis and reporting to customers.
As a senior lab supervisor I am leading the activities and operations of a BSL-2 genetics lab. My work consists of providing trainees with expert knowledge on genetics lab experiments, project planning including experiment design and budget management, training of lab members, implementing lab safety regulations, troubleshooting technical and experimental issues, developing SOPs, database management and bioinformatics analysis of quantitative PCR and NGS data. In addition, I am working on various research projects using flow cytometry, ddPCR and NGS technologies.
As a lab supervisor I am responsible for managing different aspects of a BSL-2 genetics lab, including training lab members and assisting in the correct use of lab equipment and lab software, implementing lab safety regulations, ordering and maintaining lab equipment and consumables, troubleshooting, writing SOPs, database management, permit applications and data analysis. I am also experienced in handling samples with RG3 pathogens in a BSL-3 facility. I am currently working on various research projects involving sensory & foraging ecology, and population genetics of wild nonhuman and human primates.
I was involved in various projects in healthcare economics (cost-effectiveness models), pharmaceutical marketing, business development and the development of serious games for the healthcare industry.
I studied interactions between Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains isolated from chronic lung infections in adult patients with cystic fibrosis with respect to virulence factor expression.
Travel and work program in Canada. Cultivated language and communication skills, learned how to adapt to unanticipated situations and improvise new plans, and developed organization and administration skills.
