Guy is currently chair of the board of the Health Cluster Portugal, and a member of CNCTI (Portugal's National Council on Science, Technology and Innovation) and of the board of directors of the LisbonMBA. He chairs the advisory board of ANI (Portugal's innovation agency) and is a member of the board of Phlow Inc. Richmond, VA and of the board of Hovione Holding AG ´. Guy Villax was Chief Executive Officer of Hovione from 1997 till 2022. Prior to that, he held positions with Price Waterhouse in London and Hovione in the Far East. He has a degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University College at Buckingham. Under his watch the company grew sales tenfold and became the CDMO behind 2-4 NDAs approved by FDA every year from 2016 onwards. From 2004 to 2016 Guy was an active advocate in the fight against fake pharmaceuticals and non-compliant producers of pharmaceutical products, he promoted parity between domestic (US / EU) and international GMP inspections by regulators / medicines' agencies globally; this work was performed via board roles at the CEFIC’s European Fine Chemicals Group as from 2004 and also at Rx-360 from 2009 (where he was Vice-Chair and Chair from 2012-2016). Guy is no longer a board member of those organizations. Contemporaneously with that activity the EU passed the Falsified Medicines Directive and the US Congress passed GDUFA. Guy was a trustee of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa from 2017 to 2020, and a board member of Portugal's Business Roundtable from inception till March 2022.
