Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Marrying Digital India with Incredible India, a Mumbai-based start-up has launched audio tours of the city, which will soon be followed by tours in Aurangabad, Kolkata and Varanasi. The app called HopOn India, which is available both on iOS and Android, provides digitally powered immersive experiences of places around you. It covers history, food, culture, myth and much more. The five walks launched in Mumbai cover the colonial Bombay and art district, Elephanta, Matunga and Dadar Parsee Colony, Bollywood and cricket. The narrations are carefully researched and in times when fiction and history are always contending for space, these walks pay close attention to both written and oral histories about these places. The user is expected to download the App, buy the walks she is interested in and then take the walk as the narrator takes her on a journey of discovery. The narrations are available in English, Hindi and Marathi with more languages to follow.
