As the professor for "Analysis and System Methodologies" in the final year of the Systems Analysis program at ORT, I guided students through advanced project management methodologies, with a special focus on agile practices. Course Content: • Project Management Methodologies: Using the Cynefin framework as a tool to determine and select the appropriate approach, we explored various methodologies. The course focused primarily on agile methodologies, using Scrum as the core framework. This includes: • Risk Management: Strategies for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks within project management. • Agile Methodologies: • Scrum: Detailed exploration of user story writing, including defining, prioritizing, and organizing user stories. We covered tools and methods such as user story mapping for constructing a comprehensive product backlog, and delved into estimation techniques and tools. • Lean Techniques: Examination of concepts such as Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and Minimum Marketable Feature (MMF). • Kanban: Understanding the use of Kanban for workflow visualization and management. • Practical Application: In addition to theoretical learning, students completed a practical project to reinforce their knowledge. This included role-playing exercises to conduct Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospectives, using techniques and methodologies to enhance their experience. Challenges and Innovations: • Distance Education: Innovating to enhance student commitment, involvement, and interest in a remote learning environment. • Inclusion of AI: Exploring AI as a tool to accelerate processes and improve project management efficiency. In this course, my objective was to prepare students to apply these methodologies effectively in real-world scenarios, equipping them with the skills needed to drive successful software development projects in a rapidly evolving industry.
