Castellare di Castellina was born of the union of four estates (Castellare, Caselle, San Niccolò and Le Case) on the initiative of Paolo Panerai, with the aim of producing wine of the best possible quality. This was in the 1970s, when the so-called Renaissance of Italian wine had begun. The Rocca di Frassinello project was inspired by a very simple idea – or should we say a very simple need: to replicate the model of excellence set in motion by the Castellare di Castellina winery in a new region.This area, so incredibly well suited for cultivating grapes is part of the Gavorrano and Roccastrada municipalities. Feudi del Pisciotto The company is located in south-eastern Sicily just minutes from Caltagirone (Sicily’s capital of pottery), Piazza Armerina and Vittoria, close to Villa Romana which has miraculously remained intact, at a distance of 7 km from the sea. The estate dates back to the 1700s and was one of the largest in Sicily.
