I monitor weather routing recommendations for company-owned and chartered vessels issued by more than five routing companies, with particular attention to ships carrying sensitive cargo like windmill towers & blades on deck, liquefication cargo, and containers on deck bulk carriers. As a member of the Performance Desk, I'm supporting my team with my sea experience in assessing non-typical voyages. I'm a contact point for Masters and Operators in case of weather routing problems. For some time, I was a member of the development team assessing options for an in-house routing solution. I'm actively involved in the testing and evaluation of new routing service providers.
Undertake and lead shifts of Route Analysts (former seafarers) who provide routing & monitoring services for the worldwide maritime market. Create optimal and safe routes worldwide. Provide daily route advice, based on the latest weather forecast and my sailing experience on oceangoing vessels in the rank of Master Mariner. Prepare and perform weekly briefings with customers regarding the general weather situation, and it's influence on their fleet. Coach and mentor less experienced coleagues; provide on-shift training, checks the quality of their work and help them resolve problems. Supervising of a timely product & service delivery according to agreed SLA/KPI.
Commercial, environmental and safety analysis of different production processes and preparation of quotes, buying necessary equipment, designing and applying H&S procedures, monitoring implementation of hardware and software, optimalization of production process, HR and supervising maintenance system.
Joined as VLCC Chief Officer and promoted to Master in 2002. Short-term office assignment as Emergency Contact Officer in 2008 during MT Sirius Star hijacking.
