Responsible for all staff operations in the manning, equipping and training of 7 warships. Coordinates activities of staff officers in accordance with general policies laid down. Guides work efforts of staff, exercising general supervision over sections and ensuring that completed staff work is submitted for decision. Serves as the major contact point for other commands/organizations. Advises and assists in consideration of policies and problems. Acts as direct representative, signing correspondence on routine matters and determining line of action in situations where views of commander are known.
Lead and coordinated a staff of 150 in the training of roughly 10,000 Sailors across 22 ships of the US 7th Fleet in 24 different missions in two locations in Japan totalling over 3000 training events throughout the Western Pacific. Represents the Commanding Officer in maintaining military, professional, activity's rules, regulations and policies as determined by the Commanding Officer.
Administered ship's engineering division of 90 in operations and maintenance of heating and air-conditioning equipment, diesel engines, small boat engines, cryogenic (N2/O2) production plants, waste disposal and processing, and electrohydraulic auxiliary machinery during deployments throughout the Western Pacific and Middle East. Developed and implemented self-repair practices and processes during the 2020 COVID deployment spending 210 days away from homeport and outside repair support, ensuring maximum equipment operational time.
Coordinated activities of 8 staff assistants to a 1-star Admiral. Organized, planned administrative matters, ensured submission of completed staff work. Served as principal contact point to control appointments with the Admiral. Managed all manning for seven ships, totalling 2,500 Sailors, ensuring optimal manning to support operations following two collisions of US Navy ships. Completed 6 deployments throughout the Western Pacific including the first operational deployment of the F-35.
