Taranaki Health Foundation | Proudly Connecting Community Generosity with Better Healthcare Working in the not-for-profit sector is deeply rewarding. Having the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in my community and leave a lasting legacy through my mahi is both a privilege and a source of immense satisfaction. As General Manager of the Taranaki Health Foundation, I have the privilege of leading fundraising initiatives that help deliver exceptional healthcare outcomes for the people of Taranaki. The Foundation has played a significant role in supporting the new East Wing development at Taranaki Base Hospital – a once-in-a-generation investment that is transforming healthcare across our region. Completed in 2026, Te Rau Mātāpuna o Taranaki is now home to modern Maternity and Neonatal services, Intensive Care, Radiology and Emergency Departments. Alongside this, the new Taranaki Cancer Centre is bringing world-class cancer treatment closer to home. Through the generosity of our community, the Foundation has helped provide state-of-the-art medical equipment and enhancements that will benefit generations to come. Community involvement and fundraising have always been part of who I am. My parents, Chris and Bonnie Carter, were the driving force behind New Plymouth's Ironside Vehicle Society. As a family, we spent more than a decade immersed in the charity, supporting fundraising, operations and community engagement. Those experiences instilled in me a lifelong belief in the power of communities working together to achieve extraordinary things. Before joining the Foundation, I enjoyed a rewarding 30-year career with Air New Zealand. During that time, I held leadership roles across airport operations, flight dispatch, finance, sales, management and human resources. Air New Zealand's commitment to developing its people provided me with invaluable experience and shaped my leadership philosophy. I later moved into the role of General Manager at Quinovic Property Management, where I embraced the challenge of learning a new industry and further demonstrated the transferability of strong leadership, operational and people-management skills. I am a people-focused, results-driven leader who believes in building relationships, inspiring others and creating outcomes that have a lasting and positive impact on the communities we serve.
