My doctoral dissertation is titled: "Allogeneic dendritic cells as adjuvants in cancer immunotherapy" and examined the feasibility of having an allogeneic source of dendritic cells (allo-DCs), not for direct antigen-presentation to T cells but as an immune primer aiming to activate recipient's bystander DCs. During these years I published 3 original research articles, 1 review article and co-authored 6 manuscripts.

    Sep 2011 - Jan 2012 · 5 mos

I was working as a visitor postgraduate student in "Alexander Fleming Biomedical Sciences Research Center" under the supervision of Dr. Maria Fousteri. The project I was working was embedded in a post-doc project focused on the investigation of cellular DNA damage responses and their impact on genetic and epigenetic defects. During my work in Al.Fleming BSRC I gained experience in methods such as working with bacteria culturing and cloning, DNA extraction, cell transfection, UV irradiation of cells, protein bulk cross-linking, cell lysation and chromatin extraction, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and western blotting.

  • Research Trainee at University Medical Center Groningen
    Mar 2011 - Jun 2011 · 4 mos

I had been granted an Erasmus Placement Scholarship in order to do a research training project in the Department of Oncology, University Medical Center of Grogingen, The Netherlands, under the supervision of Dr. Frank A.E. Kruyt. The project was entitled: "Efficacy of TRAIL and bortezomib in glioblastoma cells". The aim was to study the functioning of the TRAIL apoptotic pathway in glioma stem cell models. I was trained in cell culturing and cytotoxic/apoptosis assays, sensitization strategies and western blotting.
