• Role – the role of a Police Constable is to maintain law and order within the community while protecting people and their property through crime prevention and detection. • Crime Prevention – working as part of a highly cohesive and effective team to implement crime prevention plans across the local area; providing information to the public on key prevention methods. • Investigation – managing a wide range of cases; liaison with victims and witnesses; utilising specialised interviewing techniques to extract the required information; using multiple investigative methodologies to obtain evidence needed to solve cases; compiling detail case files; attending court to present evidence; completing all required documentation in line with legislative requirements. • Safeguarding – helping addicts; domestic abuse victims, vulnerable adults and children; handling difficult and potentially violent situations; working with individuals to remove them from harmful situations and helping them to settle into a safe environment; liaison with agencies and external services to obtain the help needed to move forward. • Communication – liaison with people from all walks of life; utilising effective communication skills to gain trust to enable collaborative working relationships; working with people at all levels within the force. • Community Liaison – working within the local community; dealing with issues as they arise; management of severe anti-social behavioural issues; liaison with local businesses, schools, councils, community leaders and individuals. • Problem Solving – investigating and managing problems at the root cause; implement creative and innovative solutions to drive sense of community pride and achievement; working with other community liaison teams to build long term strategies to improve community welfare.
