    Wharariki supports whānau to “weave better lives”. We use a whānau centered approach, placing whānau at the heart of our actions and in the driver’s seat. We work with funders and agencies to develop and facilitate programmes which address community priorities Wharariki’s purpose is to improve the conditions of life for members of communities across Ikaroa Rawhiti by taking actions, establishing programmes and working with others to improve health standards, education levels, employment opportunities, housing standards and life skills – the social determinants of wellbeing.

    The Agency aims to ensure a whole of system focus on preventing, treating and managing cancer in NZ. Agency is within Ministry of Health but it's chief executive reports direct to the Minister. Advisory Council supports the chief executive with strategic advice. I also held role as Interim Chair of He Ara Tangata, the agency's Consumer Reference Group. I was part of the small group in the establishment phase. Stepped down now agency on its feet and running in favour of supporting real change in social circumstances via Wharariki Trust.
