I am interested in the use of phage therapy to control bacterial populations involved in the process of microbially influenced corrosion
I am learning skills in anaerobic phage culturing and isolation with host bacteria Desulfovibrio ferrophilus IS5 and Pseudodesulfovibrio profundus. Following which I will try to cultivate and isolate phages of above mentioned bacteria at high pressure, anaerobic conditions from deep-sea water collected from the Tyrrhenian sea off the shores of Panarea, Italy, and deep-sea sediment from Japan.
I was at the University of Tokyo for 2 weeks to learn skills in phage culturing and isolation, in preparation for my internship at NIMS, Tsukuba.
Researching on sea surface microplastics in Singapore's waters using a self-designed sampling attachment to collect sea surface water samples. Currently going through the proof of concept for the sampling device by looking at microbial composition of water samples at different depths.
