About

As a junior in Chemical Engineering major at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I am passionate about applying my engineering knowledge to solve global challenges and improve lives. I am eager to contribute to meaningful projects and gain hands-on experience within the field. I am currently a Process Engineering Co‑op at Green Bay Packaging’s Green Bay Mill Division, where I support mill-wide continuous improvement by running chemical trials, analyzing process data, and developing visual management tools that help operators and engineers make faster, more informed decisions. My work focuses on optimizing the dry end of the paper machine, improving system reliability, and identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost performance across daily operations. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I am an undergraduate researcher for the Yin Lab where I study the possible uses for defective interfering particles by studying the effect of cells on virus infection. I design and execute controlled experiments to study virus–cell interactions, including growing BHK cells, infecting them with vesicular stomatitis virus, and quantifying infection kinetics. This work requires troubleshooting unexpected results, maintaining precise documentation, and validating findings through repeated testing. In my previous research, I focused on analytical chemistry, specifically quantifying catechins (polyphenols) in various cocoa powder brands. Working collaboratively, I developed a procedure to remove lipids from cocoa powder using vacuum filtration and sonication, which allowed for a more accurate analysis. We utilized spectrophotometry, HPLC, and uHPLC to measure catechin content and explored the health benefits of polyphenols in our findings. Additionally, I contributed to the Cersonsky Lab's research on molecular simulations aimed at predicting molecular conformations in crystal structures. My role involved developing simulations and creating potential energy diagrams using Python. I thrive in collaborative environments and excel in communication, organization, and time management. These skills, along with my attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, make me well-equipped to contribute to innovative engineering projects. I look forward to applying my knowledge and passion to real-world engineering challenges and growing within the industry.
