Responsible for the development and successful implementation of a dynamic and responsive supply chain delivery structure that provides first-class service to all customers. Provides leadership to 35+ supply chain team members to ensure requirements are leveraged to capture optimal quality, price, and service for all health system affiliates. The position reports to the Executive Vice President/COO and manages home office staff and affiliate-based supply chain directors. In addition to developing and managing the strategic supply chain for The Guthrie Clinic (TGC) Health System, this position is responsible for reducing and controlling product/service costs, transaction costs (warehousing, purchasing, etc.), identification of sourcing opportunities for product and equipment standards, optimization of supplier relationships, research/entry into new product markets, and the management of system-wide supplier performance.
Provide administrative decision making, leadership and strategic planning for Nix Health Supply Chain Initiatives. Lead and manage system-wide materials management activities, supply improvement initiatives and implementation of material GPO agreements. Identify contracting and standardization opportunities working with corporate vice-president and coordinate with regional facility leadership and physicians. Ensure that Capital Policies and Procedures are uniformly understood and consistently interpreted and administered.
Direct and coordinate day-to-day operational business activities mainly in supply management, courier services, inventory control, or supply and receiving. Render high level of assistance to the medical team in providing prompt support services for the health system. Serve as a liaison with direct reports, employees, and key internal customers at all campuses to address issues and concerns in a timely manner. Administer operating and capital budgets to fund operations of all assigned departments. Mentor leadership staff to develop their competencies and achieve their maximum level of potential.
Collaboratively worked with Vice President of Supply Chain Management in providing direction, support, and training to the purchasing buyers and staff. Held responsible for solving general administration conflicts and materials management issues within the medical center. Continuously enhanced department personnel competencies through ongoing in-service education, on-the-job training, evaluations and open departmental meetings. Handled financing or extended payment plans for capital equipment procurement and services with the various manufacturers and distributors, as delegated by the CEO/Administration. Provided expert oversight in the process for supply cost reduction, standardization and contract management.
