Using digital technologies to solve problems in the construction industry is the focus of my work. My educational path has never limited me to a single domain, it involved architecture, structural engineering, building sciences and informatics. Avoiding a silo way of thinking through my career allowed me to bridge domains, people and turn problematic communication into fruitful collaborations. What I noticed as a student, which continued into my industry experience, was that the technology used in the construction industry was not optimal for its purpose. These challenges motivated me to improve data exchange between architectural and structural analysis building models through a PhD research. As a research assistant I gained academic excellence in the network of international lead scientists, producing the latest research in digitalization of construction. The practice-relevance of research projects, which all involved collaborations with innovative construction companies, kept me up-to-date with the latest trends and existing practices. Complexities of the construction industry and all its people, processes and technologies need more than conventional digital solutions and I look forward to witnessing and contributing to its digital change.
