My personal interest lies in international relations, conflict studies and the dynamics of great power rivalries, while simultaneously shifting my focus more into the direction of post-conflict reconstruction and development work.
I’m currently working as a Working Student at KfW Development Bank in the 'Health Team for Eastern and Western Africa'. Before transitioning to my current role, I worked 5 months in the 'Rural Development, Biodiversity & Transport Team for the Eastern Africa region', until end of April 2026. My responsibilities include supporting sanctions-list compliance and partner screening, preparing presentations for BMZ and World Bank project proposals, maintaining team financial statistics, producing GIS-based maps for project analysis and communication, and conducting sector reviews on Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya.
I've been working with Prof. Dr. Benno Fladvad in the research group 'Geographies of Conflict, Peace and Security' at the University of Hamburg, supporting his academic work in Natural Science Peace Research with a focus on Climate and Security, Political Ecology, the consequences of Nuclear Weapons and Energy Geographies. My responsibilities include contributing to the editorial preparation of the forthcoming edited volume 'Contested Imaginaries of Future Technologies: Geographical Perspectives (Becker & Fladvad, eds., Palgrave Macmillan, 2026)', as well as assisting in the preparation of university courses.
I've assissted Prof. Dr. Matthew D. Stephen, head of the Chair for International Political Economy at Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg, supporting his academic work on China’s influence in international institutions, as well as questions of global governance, international power shifts, and the political economy of great-power rivalries. My responsibilities included drafting extensive literature reviews on Chinese politics, conducting background research on relevant scholars, and preparing structured researcher profiles to support academic networking and event planning.
As a program intern for 'Data, Governance and Environment', I supported the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Climate Change teams in project implementation, data analysis and research. I contributed to governance initiatives and drafted internal reports and briefings to support programmatic decision-making. I took part in two field missions to Selenge Aimag (Сэлэнгэ) and Sükhbaatar Aimag (Сүхбаатар), where I helped assess WASH conditions in schools, kindergartens, dormitories and health facilities, and evaluated the water security situation in Ongon Sum (Онгон). Based on the on sight assessment of the water quality and availability through a spring, I then created an elevation model with Geoinformation Software and drafted a map indicating the path of a water-pipline from the spring to the Sum-Center. This map then served as a template for the realization of the actual construction project, which is to be realized. Additionally, I initiated the creation of a comprehensive map of all CHIP (cooking, heating, and insulation products) packages installed in gers across Mongolia, based on GPS data collected by field officers from People in Need (PIN), using data collection guidelines I drafted and provided.
I’ve been working in the Information Centers of the GIGA - Institute for Asian Studies and the - Institute for African Studies in Hamburg, where I've supported GIGA researchers and users of the specialized library with their literature research and reviews. In addition, I was responsible for the formal and content-related indexing of academic literature on Asia and Africa, the cataloguing of German- and English-language publications by GIGA staff, and the software-supported organization of the library and archive.
