About

With over four decades of experience in the mortgage industry, including more than three years as a Management & Program Analyst at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), I have developed expertise in business analysis, anti-money laundering, and the mortgage industry. My career is marked by a commitment to improving processes and driving compliance in housing and lending. At HUD, I led the first-ever translation of external public-facing FHA forms and flyers into five languages, ensuring greater accessibility for diverse communities. I also coordinated requests for information and data from the Office of Inspector General and the Office of Program Enforcement, delivering timely and accurate responses. As a Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB), I remain dedicated to fostering equity, operational excellence, and fairness in the housing sector.

    • Mortgagee Review Board
      Oct 2009 - Sep 2020 · 11 yrs

Completely overhauled the Office, from the day I began, and the MRB became the first, and probably one of the only offices at HUD that is 100% digital. Managed the transition of 1,641 Lenders from a legacy Annual Audited Financial Report Repository and HUD System to LEAP, and identified 284 Lenders who failed to make the transition. I also identified 15 mergers that went unreported. Ran the November 30, 2009 Mortgagee Review Board (MRB) meeting where David Stevens was the FHA Commissioner and Chairman of the MRB, and the Board voted to remove 905 Correspondent Mini-Eagle Lenders. I personally turned Countrywide Mortgage off in all FHA Systems. We withdrew some other bad actors at that meeting. I helped stuff the envelopes for 8 hours after that and Erikka Young made it to UPS that night! Led one of the teams that worked on the $25 B Global Servicing Settlement. Identified several people for debarment, and some of them were lifetime. I identified schemes, shams, fraud, egregious behavior, and met with Lenders, and Rudy Giuliani who had no remorse for their actions. Managed pending and closed Mortgagee Review Board lender cases referred to the Mortgagee Review Board for Administrative Sanctions, which included the imposition of Civil Money Penalties, Suspension, Probation, Permanent withdrawal, and or Reprimands. Wrote and published the Federal Register Notice that was 3 years late in 2009. Wrote Notices of Violation letters, that were issued to mortgagees, that were referred to the MRB by the Quality Assurance Division in the Office of Lender Activities and Program Compliance. Managed Options meetings to discuss recommendations to the Mortgagee Review Board, which had the ultimate authority to impose sanctions.
