Through my participation in Roche's competitive mentorship programme, I gained invaluable insights into the pharmaceutical industry. Engaging in structured mentoring sessions allowed me to explore drug development processes and various career pathways in life sciences. This experience not only broadened my professional perspective but also connected me with industry leaders and professionals.
Selected to take part in the L’Oréal Spring Insight Programme, a competitive early careers programme designed to provide undergraduates with insight into L’Oréal as an employer, its brands, divisions, working culture, and early career opportunities. I gained exposure to key business areas across L’Oréal, including Marketing, Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Digital, Technology & Innovation, Sustainability, Education, Advocacy & Social, and the use of AI within the company. I participated in employability sessions focused on CV writing, personal branding, assessment centres, interview skills, and using AI to support recruitment preparation. Finally, I also engaged with L’Oréal professionals, graduates, interns, and early careers representatives to better understand career pathways within the beauty and personal care industry.
I engaged in a job simulation that revolved around launching a new medicine. I identified the clinical care pathway and prepared evidence for submission to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Additionally, I crafted a brand positioning statement and pitched the new medicine while researching patient needs to develop an effective go-to-market strategy.
I played a key role in mentoring first-year students, offering them essential academic guidance and personal support. My focus was on helping them navigate the challenges of university life, ensuring they felt welcomed and prepared for their academic journey. By providing practical advice and fostering a supportive environment, I contributed to their successful transition into university.
I played a crucial part in supporting the Heads of residence by managing the well-being of around 120 female students. I organized various events that catered to approximately 250 students (both male and female), focusing on promoting teamwork and community engagement. My efforts contributed to a vibrant and supportive residential environment.
As the leader of the PlantWithMe Service group Initiative, I actively contributed to the Adopt-A-Site; Plant your Age Program, focusing on mangrove restoration efforts in Mombasa. My role involved planting 5,000 mangroves as part of the AKDN Net Zero Plan and fostering environmental awareness through school garden projects. This initiative not only aimed to restore local ecosystems but also engaged the community in sustainable practices.
I played a pivotal role in managing hospitality and catering for the IB Diploma Class of 2024's play production. My responsibilities included vendor negotiations to secure quality catering while ensuring profitability. This experience honed my skills in event management and vendor relations, contributing to a successful production.
