I’m a senior copywriter who loves to write. Before I became a copywriter, I was a journalist. I’ve also been on radio, made podcasts, ran record labels and written speeches for government. I love the challenge. Most people don’t want to read ads, but many clients have attested they do read mine. I guess that’s why I keep getting asked back. For over a decade I’ve been entrusted by many Melbourne agencies including DDB, Ogilvy, VML, Whippet, Cummins & Partners, Penso, TBWA, The Royals, Noisy Beast, M&C Saatchi, The Brand Agency and Big Red to solve their clients’ problems. And in the lockdown years I was at Private Media, Australia’s leading independent news network, coming up with all the ideas that got people to subscribe to their Crikey, SmartCompany and The Mandarin mastheads. The work I did there more than doubled Crikey’s subscriber base – in fact, if you’re one of the 30,000 Crikey subscribers, it was most likely my campaign ideas that led you to the subscribe page. At the beginning there is always an insight and an idea, then my strength lies in compelling and persuasive copy. Digital, TV, Direct Marketing, Radio, Print, OOH, you name it, I’ve written for it. Financial services, telcos, big retail, automotive, sports or FMCG, you name it, I have sold it. My life passions are my little family, music, being president of my local cricket club, and barracking for Collingwood. Incidentally, that barracking for Collingwood thing has led me to a lot of work over the years - with work for the club, the AFL and even The Age that's made my heart/brain sought after for when brands and organisations need to get to the bottom of what makes a sports obsessive tick. One of the co-hosts of the popular Boxcutters podcast. It was a podcast about television and was the first Australian podcast to be invited to record a live episode at SXSW in Austin, USA. Later, was co-host with Boxcutters’ Josh Kinal of Devil’s Avocado, an educational podcast where we spoke to the country’s best qualified experts on big issues like tax, homelessness, journalism, diversity in sport and many more.
