The internship at Wageningen Economic Research is embedded in KOEVOET project, which aims to halve the Dutch ecological footprint of food consumption by 2050. The implementation of the carbon footprint module for MAGNET (a CGE equilibrium model built around the GTAP core) was the focus of my internship and the topic of my Master's thesis. The analyisis for the carbon footprint estimation is based on the Multi-regional Input-Output methodology, which allows us to collect data from 121 countries. With those data it is possible to track for the emissions linked to the commodities consumed in the Netherlands. The final step is to consider different scenarios, based on different assumptions, which will give an overview on the most feasible and cost-effective measures have to be taken into consideration for the 2050 target.
