- Automotive DC-DC converter design: from feasibility study and simulation, to design for production (full schematics capture and PCBs layout). - Selection of high voltage and low voltage devices in accordance to converter requirements, operating temperatures and required qualifications (AEC-Qxxx) - Design of gate drivers for selected devices in accordance to device technology, switching frequency, losses profile and temperature operating range. - Design of magnetic components (power transformers and power inductors), core material and shape selection, number of turns and windings arrangement, losses estimation. - Design for EMC.
- Feasibility studies for power electronics converters in the range 10kW~4MW. - Design and prototyping of 15kW DC-AC converter for aerospace actuator (IGBT inverter power stage, gate drivers with related soft turn-off protections, control platform, operating air temperature range -40/70°C). - Design and prototyping of a flexible and expandable laboratory control platform based on the Zynq7020 SoC (24 in/out fiber optics channels, 16x 14-bit ADC channels, resolver and encoder interface). - Design and prototyping of 200kW full SiC DC-AC converter demonstrator for high speed machine applications, power density in excess of 40kW/l (inverter power stage, liquid cooling, switching frequency 30kHz, configurable gate drivers with 25Apk capabilities and active Miller clamp protection). - Design of a power module structure for advanced machine and power electronics integration concept. - Proposals writing (EPSRC, Cleansky II). - PhD students supervising and mentoring.
