Generative Design for Functional Optimisation on a Hydraulic manifold through Additive Manufacturing The aim of the project was focused on optimizing a hydraulic manifold for L-PBF technology in Additive Manufacturing. During this experience, I had the opportunity to: • Follow all stages of design, from the takeover of the project to printing and QA. • Redesign a part for the oil and gas industry using a simulation-driven method to optimize mechanical, thermal, and fluid dynamic properties; • Create a methodology to structurally optimize the manifold and support structures, to reduce structural and thermal distortions and minimize post-processing. • Explore the topic of DfAM to create a successful business case. In addition, I got the chance to improve my knowledge of CAD and CAE software such as Solidworks, Altair Inspire, and Materialise Magics.
